Memorandum of Agreement
By and between
The City of Seattle And
International Association of Fire Fighters, Local 27, AFL-CIO_CLC
(Fire Fighter/Paramedic Overtime - 32/24 Exemption)
This agreement is between The City of Seattle (hereinafter referred to as "the City") and
The International Association of Fire Fighters, Local 27, AFL - CIO - CLC (hereinafter referred to as "the Union".

The terms and conditions expressed in this Memorandum of Agreement outline procedures relating to the selecting and hiring of Fire Fighter/Paramedics for overtime to which the City and the Union mutually agree.

Article 6.2.1 (g), which states that, "Every 32 hours of special or project overtime shall carry over to the regular, full-time overtime log and count as a full shift worked.", shall no longer apply to Fire Fighter/Paramedics.

For the purposes of this MOA, "Paramedic overtime" is overtime which requires paramedic certification, and "regular overtime" is non-paramedic overtime from the full-time overtime list.

Fire Fighter/Paramedics will be selected for regular overtime only when there are no Fire Fighters remaining on the regular overtime list. Fire Fighter/Paramedics will not compete against Fire Fighters for regular overtime hiring purposes.

If there are no Fire Fighters remaining on the regular overtime list, Fire Fighter/Paramedics will be hired to work regular overtime, based on the number of previous regular overtime shifts worked and in accordance with all other past hiring practices not addressed in this MOA.

Fire Fighter/Paramedics shall be hired for overtime for Paramedic overtime based on the number of previous Paramedic overtime shifts worked and in accordance with all other past hiring practices not addressed in this MOA.

This agreement shall become effective on April 1, 2008. If Article 6 of the collective bargaining agreement is modified in any way during negotiations, this MOA will also be reconsidered and/or renegotiated.
