LOCAL 27 ALL CALL

Brothers and Sisters:

Brother Ryan Ellis has resigned from the office of President of Local 27 due to a family tragedy.

In accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws of Local 27, the Executive Board has appointed Kenny Stuart as President of Local 27 to complete the unexpired term.

The President's term expires in October of this year. This will necessitate an election for 1st Vice-President and this vacancy shall be filled with an immediate election in accordance with the provisions of the By-Laws applicable to election of such position. Dallas Baker will remain as Acting Vice-President until such election is completed.

The Local 27 Executive Board and staff would like to express our heartfelt sympathy for Ryan's family. We are supporting Ryan and his family in any way that we can and we support his decision to place his family's needs first and foremost.

Ryan has served the members of Local 27, the Seattle Fire Department, and the citizens of Seattle with honor, integrity, dedication, and at great personal sacrifice. His talents, enthusiasm, and hard work will be missed. He has left Local 27 better than he found it and we are grateful for his efforts.

We have attached Brother Ellis' letter of Resignation to this email.

  Fraternally,

  Local 27 Executive Board

Brothers and Sisters

Recently my family experienced a tragic loss when my Sister-in-law passed away from cancer.  Her passing has left my family stunned.  This event has caused me to think long and hard about my responsibilities and as of now, I can only state that now it is better for my family for me to be at home rather than at the office.  I feel that this is the best decision for my family and for Local 27 as I will no longer be able to dedicate the bulk of my time to furthering our union.  The amount of time required to lead this union is enormous and I no longer possess that ability.  Therefore, I must resign as President of Local 27.  I have sustained a steady transfer of information to the officers of our union and will continue to do so over the coming months as I regress from my position.  Fortunately we have very talented and experienced officers and staff who are able to handle a sudden transition like this.  I am very proud and honored to have led this union and worked with such dedicated individuals.  This has been a great experience for me.  Over the coming months remember that we need to help our union remain strong, donate your time, money, and influence and help our union become even stronger.  Once again, it has been my honor and privilege to represent Local 27.  Thank you all for allowing me to do so.

Fraternally,

Ryan Ellis
