First of TWO MDA Fill the Boots was a Success! Eighty-six Seattle Fire Fighters and friends raised over $33,000 in one day at 8 intersections throughout Seattle on July 18th. All of the money collected supports local clinics at the University of Washington Medical Center and at Children’s Hospital, purchases automated wheelchairs, sponsors family support groups, and sends children afflicted with this terrible disease to MDA Summer Camp. For additional information, click here to see the MDA video. Or browse the MDA website at www.mda.org, the Seattle Fire Fighter MDA website at http://www.haporiginals.com/mda/fill_the_boot/index.htm , or click here to make on online donation. This year donated funds were used to develop a treatment that reverses the effects of Pompe’s Disease, one of the 40 neuromuscular diseases known as Muscular Dystrophy. Thank you to the following intersection coordinators who spent hours recruiting volunteers, ensuring the intersections were properly set up, and making the event enjoyable for all the volunteers: Brandon Smith, Gene Goodner, Erina Queen, Jill Firestone, Dallas Baker, Paul Hansen, and Stephen Eney.
We are on our way to raising $75,000 this year, but we need your help to do it. The next MDA Fill the Boot day is Thursday, August 21st. Email This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it or call (206)285-1271 for more information.
