WHY:

All of the money collected supports local clinics at the University of Washington Medical Center and at Children’s Hospital, purchases automated wheelchairs, sponsors family support groups, and sends children afflicted with this terrible disease to MDA Summer Camp.  For additional information, click here to see the MDA video. Or browse the MDA website at www.mda.org, the Seattle Fire Fighter MDA website at http://www.haporiginals.com/mda/fill_the_boot/index.htm , or click here to make on online donation.

Our fundraising efforts help to ensure MDA clients, in our local community, receive life-enhancing and life-saving services, as well as benefit from advances in neuromuscular research.

For example, some of the funds we raise help send local clients to the MDA Summer Fun Camp in North Bend. I can report first hand that these funds change the lives of our local clients, their families, and the volunteers that help at the summer camp. Spending a week with a 6-year-old boy afflicted with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) was life changing for myself and Kristine Gill (FMO) who also volunteered at the camp last summer, spending a week with a 7 year boy with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).
