Safeguard Your Dependent’s Benefits
The Seattle Fire Fighters HealthCare Trust is committed to ensuring that its members and their families receive comprehensive and cost-effective benefits. To fulfill this commitment, the Trust will be conducting a Dependent Eligibility Verification Audit (DEVA). The primary goal of this audit is to confirm that only eligible dependents are covered under the plan.
Why is the DEVA audit necessary? In today’s world, healthcare costs continue to rise, impacting both employers and employees. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that healthcare resources are allocated to those who are truly eligible for such benefits.
Experience has shown that some dependents continue to be covered even when they no longer meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the health plan. This can result in increased healthcare costs for all Local 27 members. As a result, the Trust has decided to conduct the DEVA audit to identify and remove ineligible dependents from the benefit program.
The audit will be conducted by the Trust’s administrator, Vimly Benefit Solutions, a trusted partner in overseeing this crucial process. Vimly will be responsible for verifying the eligibility of dependents and ensuring that the benefit program is utilized appropriately. Access the SIMON SFFHCT website and log in.
To comply with this audit, members are requested to follow the instructions provided in the audit package. Everything you need to know about the DEVA audit was included in the mailing, including two FAQ pages. Your active participation in this process is greatly appreciated.
If you did not receive the audit instructions, you may download it here.
The DEVA audit began on October 1st, 2023, and will conclude on December 31st, 2023. It is imperative that all employees with enrolled dependents complete the necessary steps by the December 31st deadline to prevent any potential termination of coverage for ineligible dependents.
For additional guidance or if you have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Trust. The audit’s successful completion ensures that your healthcare benefits are being used efficiently and that your family remains eligible for comprehensive coverage. Review the instructions in the audit package, and once you’ve completed the audit steps, you’ll receive a confirmation letter in the mail. Your cooperation is vital in preserving the integrity of your benefits and managing healthcare costs effectively.
