Ameriflex Named as New Service Provider
If you are a retired Seattle fire fighter who receives benefits from the Seattle Fire Fighters HealthCare Trust (SFFHCT) Retirement Security Fund (RSF), please read this post carefully, as there have been some significant changes to how the plan is administered that you need to know.
The RSF provides quarterly benefit account funds that help retired Seattle fire fighters pay for medical expenses. Until now, a company called BPAS has been managing these benefit accounts; however, the Board of Trustees recently voted to switch the administration of the RSF to a new service provider named Ameriflex. This change took effect in January 2024.
Here are the key things you should know about this transition:
- Bigger Quarterly Payments: The Board of Trustees voted to increase the quarterly benefit from $1,200 to $1,500. The first payment of $1,500 will take place in April 2024.
- RSF Claims are Now Being Managed by Ameriflex: Ameriflex began managing RSF claims on January 5, 2024. Covered 2023 expenses you did not submit to BPAS by December 26 must now be submitted to Ameriflex.
- Recurring Claims: If you currently have automatic recurring claim payments set up, you will need to set up the payments again in your Ameriflex account. Check your mail for a packet from Ameriflex with details.
Our transition to Ameriflex will make managing your RSF benefits easier thanks to their streamlined user experience.
You should have already received your new Ameriflex benefits card and account information in the mail. If you didn’t or have questions, please contact the Trust Office at 206-859-2693 or via email at [email protected].
